The History of A L Sole & Son

The Sole family has been dedicated to helping families for some 80 years. In 1947 Arthur Lawrence Sole began trading as Sole Bros, a General Building company and also at this time provided a Funeral service to the community.

Some 40 years later in 1988 A.L. Sole & Son Funeral Service was born as a result of the General Building part of the company being sold. Christopher Paul Sole, Archies youngest son, had joined the company in 1984 and worked part time in both areas of the company but accepting and realising his calling became a full time Funeral Director in 1988.

Christopher and Archie worked very successfully along side each other for many years until Archie retired in the mid 90’s. Chris then took over the helm at A.L Sole & Son.

Over the years Chris trained successfully both as a Funeral Director, Embalmer and had a particular interest in reconstruction work. Sadly in 2020 Chris died very unexpectedly.

A.L Sole & Son continue to serve the local communities as they have for 80 years and strive to always work with the ethos and principles that Chris instilled.
